Ahead of IWD 2025, I spoke to marathon swimmer Amber Keegan for Athlete365 to find out more about the driving force behind her non-profit organisation Athlete Interactions, which provides a safe and supportive space for female athletes to seek help and voice their struggles.

For Athlete365, Zambian footballer Mweetwa Nchimunya candidly spoke to me about how his involvement in match-fixing led him to the darkest period of his life. This was part of a wider IOC Safe Sport campaign that used real examples to highlight the consequences of competition manipulation.

Ahead of World Mental Health Day 2022, I spoke with England number one badminton player Toby Penty to promote mental health awareness through Athlete365. Toby shared what helped take him out of a dark place following his alopecia diagnosis and finish his career on a high, offering advice to others on asking for help.

At Coaches’ Voice, I managed the Match Analysis section of the website, subbing the copy sent in by our team of professional football coaches and creating the finished piece, including all visual aspects – such as this report on the 2018 World Cup final. These reports offered football fans a detailed, expert analysis of some of the most exciting matches around the world.

I sat down with Richie Wellens, the then Oldham Athletic manager, for Coaches’ Voice in the summer of 2018. He opened up about his time in charge of the club and how he hoped to grow from what had been a challenging first experience in management. This was an opportunity to speak to a coach at an early stage in his career.

Announced on International Women’s Day 2024, I spoke with tennis trailblazer Katrina Adams for this exclusive piece on Olympics.com, as she was named the Global Winner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s 2023 Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (GEDI) Champions Award.

With the Olympic Refuge Foundation and the IOC Refugee Olympic Team to be honoured with the 2022 Princess of Asturias Award for Sports, I was tasked with ghostwriting an emotional op-ed by Yiech Pur Biel, a member of the first-ever Refugee Olympic Team at Rio 2016, which was published on Olympics.com.

IOC Young Leader Pragnya Mohan has launched an innovative project that provides bicycles to young female students for daily travel in her hometown of Ahmedabad. She spoke to me about 'Ek Beti, Ek Cycle' for Olympics.com – which means 'one daughter, one bike' – and the drive she’s always had to give back.

On World Mental Health Day 2023, the IOC wanted to reiterate its commitment to promoting mental well-being across its global sporting community. I was responsible for creating an article for Olympics.com that highlighted the importance of self-care and the new resources available to athletes on the theme of mindfulness.

An opportunity to promote Olympic Day 2023 and the IOC’s partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), this is an example of a news piece written for Olympics.com, on the fourth edition of WHO’s Walk the Talk: Health for All Challenge.

In July 2023, the IOC announced the development of a new Mental Health Action Plan that promoted a wider approach to supporting the protection and promotion of athlete mental well-being. I was tasked with explaining this new plan succinctly for Olympics.com, outlining its targets and priorities, as well as the IOC’s ongoing work in this area.

Written in the middle of the 2015/16 season, this was an opinion piece for talkSPORT.com on the rumours surrounding which manager Chelsea would next appoint. Under then owner Roman Abramovich, the Blues were ruthless in sacking and hiring managers, leading me to wonder how important the man in the first-team dugout is.

This was an opinion piece I wrote for talkSPORT.com at a time when Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal was under immense pressure coming into the festive period of the 2015/16 season, with many fans wanting him to be sacked. My article was in response to #LVGOUT trending on Twitter.

In June 2017, I wrote this piece for talkSPORT.com after Chelsea striker Diego Costa revealed that club manager Antonio Conte had informed by text that he was no longer part of his plans for the new season. My article expressed little sympathy for a player who often spoke of his unhappiness at playing for the London club.

Seeing the then upcoming 2017 UEFA Women’s Championship finals as a timely opportunity to develop the coverage of women’s football on talkSPORT.com, I wrote this piece on Dick, Kerr’s Ladies FC, the most successful women’s football team in the world, using existing quotes and statistics to strengthen the story.

While at talkSPORT, I also wrote opinion pieces for talkRADIO to help grow website and social media traffic. This piece commenting on the pay packet that Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor would receive for their 2017 boxing match in Las Vegas is one example of the content I created, as I hoped to provoke debate over trending topics.

In response to Tottenham being called ‘bottlers’ for failing to pip Leicester City to the 2016/17 Premier League title, and to provoke debate among our readers, I wrote this opinion piece defending Spurs for talkSPORT.com, emphasising the viewpoint as coming from a supporter of a rival club.

In December 2017, an 18-year-old Kylian Mbappé became the youngest player in the history of the Champions League to score 10 goals. His achievement inspired me to write this piece for The i, highlighting the youngest players to reach the same feat, using stats from Opta Sports.

In 2015, I created a number of articles for the Metro UK website on the latest football news and transfer gossip – including this on Angel Di Maria’s move to Paris Saint Germain from Manchester United. All of my articles for Metro UK are available here.

In response to Crystal Palace announcing plans to redevelop Selhurst Park and expand the capacity of its stadium, I put together this piece for The i in December 2017. This feature highlighted other British clubs that were then planning to or currently developing their home grounds.

With the July 2023 edition of Olympic Review published on the one-year mark to Paris 2024, I spoke to Australian canoeing coach and two-time Olympian Myriam Fox-Jerusalmi, as she prepares for the Games with daughter Jess Fox. We discussed the significance of gender parity on the field in Paris and her views on the future for female coaches.

In the December 2022 edition of Olympic Review, which focused on the power of sport to inspire lasting change, I spoke to Natsiraishe Maritsa about the Vulnerable Underaged People's Auditorium. Founded by Natsiraishe in 2019, the initiative uses taekwondo to empower young girls within her community in the fight against child marriage.

In the December 2022 edition of Olympic Review, I wrote this piece from Pau Gasol, an IOC Athletes' Commission member and three-time Olympic medallist in men's basketball. He reflected on the importance of athletes giving back to their communities and why children should guide our path forward.

The 1v1 Project is an independent storytelling space where I explore the inner lives of athletes – not just their achievements, but the mindset, identity, and resilience that shape who they are. Each piece is designed to be timeless and universal, inspiring both athletes and non-athlete readers.

With Touchline, I created and edited exclusive written content for the IOC’s various platforms, including Athlete365, Olympics.com and Olympic Review. Content was often timeless, designed to inspire elite athletes and coaches of all backgrounds and cultures. I regularly reached out to athletes, coaches and other sports figures to conduct interviews on themes like mental health, gender equality, and retirement.

I improved our social media presence, managed content within the Match Analysis section of the website, and I carried out and assisted face-to-face interviews across the country with a number of football coaches, including Richie Wellens, Chris Powell, and Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley.

Part of my role was also to promote all things talkSPORT, including the YouTube channel and upcoming radio shows, across our social media channels, and I featured live on air on the talkSPORT 2 Transfer Centre show to discuss our top stories.

Starting in January 2015, I learned the basics of online content production in a fast-paced environment, with a target of writing at least 20 articles per day on the latest football news and gossip. This included breaking news articles and more imaginative feature stories. Alongside this, I also freelanced for Metro.co.uk before earning my first permanent, full-time position, with the talkSPORT digital team.
